- Let me start by saying welcome to the Switzerland County FFA webpage! Chelsea Duvall and the rest of our officer team have put together a great resource for our FFA members and members of the community to view Switzerland County FFA through the internet. I greatly appreciate their efforts and hope this website can serve as a tool to improve student learning for a long time.
The Switzerland County FFA has evolved into an organization that focuses on the three circle model of agricultural education here are some examples of how we at the Switzerland County FFA focus on students:
Classroom
Our curriculum offers a wide variety of challenging courses with a focus on AgriScience. From Seventh Grade Agriculture to the Advanced Life Science courses we focus on expanding the concepts of agriculture through problem solving and the use of new and innovative technology. At Switzerland County we focus on the STEM concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Our courses are on the cutting edge of Agriculture and Science including being a national pilot school for the CASE model (Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education) courses:
Introduction to Agriculture, Foods and Natural Resources
Animal Science
Food Science
FFA
The FFA strives to give each student the opportunity to grow in all aspects of leadership. Our students are always competing in contests, helping out in the community or teaching others about the importance of leadership and agriculture.
SAE
Students complete their education through an extensive network of opportunities ranging from the traditional to the cutting edge. Our students have participated in SAE’s ranging from feeding tilapia duckweed to educating elementary students on fun ways to recycle. Each student develops the skills learned in the classroom and through FFA in their own exciting Supervised Agricultural Experience.
In conclusion the Switzerland County Agriculture department and FFA will continue to improve student education through challenging curriculum, premier leadership opportunities and a wide array of relevant experiences.
